Young Voters' Guide

to the Top Dems Who Want to be Prez

Welcome to YR Media’s 2020 Democratic presidential candidate rundown, January debate edition. With the presidential election under a year away, the 2020 race is in full swing.

As of the latest count, the candidate pool has shrunk to 12 Democrats and three Republicans. The group includes a former vice president, a few U.S. senators, a mayor from middle America and a billionaire from the west coast.

For this month’s debate at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, only six Democratic hopefuls have qualified. Now that Senators Cory Booker and Kamala Harris have suspended their campaigns and Andrew Yang failed to qualify, no candidates of color will take the stage tonight.

We’ve dug into candidates’ platforms to see what they have in mind related to issues that matter to young voters: education, healthcare, immigration, the environment and gun policy.

"Young Voters' Guide" was created by YR Interactive, where young people mix journalism, design, data and code.
